Cashatt findings tabled:
Last night, the Edgewood P&Z Commission voted unanimously to table the draft findings in order to allow time for revisions. Commissioners compiled a list of items they wish to see addressed before approving them. The other items taken up were approval of the minutes from the previous meeting, a calendar review for upcoming training, and dates for future meetings.
The next scheduled meeting is for July 2, 2013. The agenda is expected to feature four public hearings. The next two meetings following July 2 are tentatively scheduled for July 16 and August 6. However, given the fact that there are only three Commissioners at present, it may be necessary to reschedule meetings in order to assemble a quorum.

Subdivision revisions in the news:
The coverage of the public hearing by the Mountain View Telegraph indicates that most of the requests for changes to the original proposal asked for by the Commission were honored by the Council. The exception was that the suggested three year interval was changed to one.
I have requested a copy of the revisions approved by the Council at the June 5, 2013 public hearing, and will post the information as soon as it's made available. I will also compare the changes to the original text in order to highlight what has and what has not been changed.

Land use issues which came before P&Z in 2000
The Town of Edgewood Planning and Zoning minutes located in the Google Drive archive begin with the meeting of January 26, 2000. Some highlights from minutes from 2000 include discussions about various town ordinances, road design standards, annexations, the assigning of zone categories, and water policy.
In the town's early years, the Commission made recommendations and the Council made decisions on subdivision matters. State law (Chapter 3 Article 19-1) provides that the governing body of a municipality may delegate its land use authority to the planning commission as it sees fit. For final disposition of land use matters in the town's early years look in town council minutes.

Major development in a case being heard by the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer:
New Mexico Water Service Company, one of the protestants to the application by Aquifer Sciences, has reached a settlement which will remove it from the list of those protesting the application. The coverage in this week's Independent provides an overview of the current status of the request as well as details of the competing models for projecting water availability.
Paper copies of The Independent may be purchased at most local businesses. Mail subscriptions are $27 a year in-state; $30 a year out-of-state; Email delivered in the form of a pdf is available for $8.50 a year.
