Gross Receipts Tax Information:

Edgewood's latest GRT report is now available. Due to the state's publication schedule, the information was not included in the packets.  The information is filed in the Council Packets folder on Drive. 

Analysis of the New Minor Subdivision

The recent addition of a minor subdivision to the town's ordinance was intended to streamline the process, but it was approved without taking sufficient time to examine the final document for completeness, utility or consistency.  The planning commission has been given responsibility for applying the ordinance, and it was allowed to comment on the first draft which was discussed at the May 15, 2013 council meeting. It is unfortunate that the Commission was not also given the opportunity to consider the version which was composed and adopted during a single meeting on June 5, 2013.

Council Meeting Wrap-up for 10/16/2013

• The promised detailed accounting of recent IT expenditures was deferred to a later meeting. 
• The hiring of a new part time employee for landscaping, maintenance, and custodial work was approved. The new employee will assist the town in meeting its joint responsibilities with Santa Fe County for the new open space and horse arena. 
• The town's legal counsel advised the council that consideration of the infill annexation appeal was rejected by the New Mexico Supreme Court.  This determination apparently leaves the original denial by the Boundary Commission in place.  The town will consider its options. 
• Another significant item discussed was the possibility that the wastewater treatment plant will require repairs and/or replacement of parts of the filtration system.
• The mayor and council heard from a volunteer wants to help advertise and promote passage of a bond issue for the proposed animal shelter. 
• The financial report and the lease agreement for the library were both approved.  The councilors stated their desire to redirect money currently being spent on leasing property to servicing debt on town owned property. 

P&Z Wrap-up for 10/15/2013

A full year after the application was submitted to the town planning department, the Commission approved a two-lot subdivision at 245 Entranosa Road on October 15, 2013.  The subdivision was originally called out for a public hearing at the P&Z meeting of October 22, 2012 and was approved with conditions on January 23, 2013 after a procedural delay on November 13, 2012, the failure of the applicants' agent to attend the December 10, 2012 public hearing, and cancellation due to weather of the meeting scheduled for January 14, 2013.

The Town Clerk provided a copy of the Council Minutes for 09/18/2013 and for the Joint Council/Commission Meeting of 09/24/2013.  I've placed a copy of the September 24 minutes in the Commission Minutes 2013 folder as well. 

The October 2, 2013 Commission meeting was cancelled due to a lack of quorum. An agenda item for approval of the September 3 minutes can be expected for the next scheduled meeting on October 15, 2013.

Edited to add the following information:  The wording of Estancia is correct; Edgewood lies in a portion of Santa Fe County which has been designated by the county loosely as "Estancia" which should be taken in a generic sense and should not be confused with the municipality of the same name. A hat tip to the reader of the blog who is better informed than I about the history of the SLDC revision process.
