New P&Z Ordinance:

I obtained a copy of ToE Ordinance 2014-05 (Planning Commission) from the Town Clerk which is archived on Drive.  I will post a link to the ToE website as soon as the ordinance is available there.  This ordinance amends and supersedes Ordinance 1999-S which I have moved into the folder containing outdated ordinances.  

Added 11/01/2014:  The new Planning Commission Ordinance is now posted at the ToE website in the Planning and Zoning section devoted to agendas and minutes.

The meeting included discussions about changing the makeup of the planning commission as well as an update on the road paving projects authorized in the bond election earlier this year.

THE TOWN OF EDGEWOOD Planning & Zoning Commission will consider the following during a PUBLIC HEARING on July 1,2014 starting at 6:00  pm at the Edgewood Community Center, 27 E. Frontage Road:

    

REQUEST FORLOT LINE VACATION/REPLATFOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT #5 PLAZA COURT AND 1887 OLD US 66, TRACTS 1-D, 1-E OF THE EDGEWOOD PLAZA SUBDIVISION, SECTION 28, T 10 N, R 7 E, N.M.P.M. EDGEWOOD, NM. 7.266 ACRES ZONED C-2 COMMERCIAL. Meeting cancellation:

Tonight's P&Z meeting has been cancelled for lack of a quorum.

P&Z meeting has been cancelled.

Tonight's meeting has been cancelled.  The notice of cancellation has been posted at several physical locations, but it does not appear on the town's website at this time.  The next scheduled meeting is for Tuesday September 24, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Edgewood Community Center.  This will be a joint meeting of the council and commission for the purposes of conducting a training session.

Cashatt findings tabled:

Last night, the Edgewood P&Z Commission voted unanimously to table the draft findings in order to allow time for revisions.  Commissioners compiled a list of items they wish to see addressed before approving them.  The other items taken up were approval of the minutes from the previous meeting, a calendar review for upcoming training, and dates for future meetings. 

The next scheduled meeting is for July 2, 2013.  The agenda is expected to feature four public hearings.  The next two meetings following July 2 are tentatively scheduled for July 16 and August 6.  However, given the fact that there are only three Commissioners at present, it may be necessary to reschedule meetings in order to assemble a quorum. 

Land use in the news:

There are several  stories in the June 19 Independent dealing with land use issues:

• Torrance County's dispute with a local business seems to have been resolved with the approval of a conditional use permit (page 1). 
• Ongoing questions over procedure at Edgewood's planning commission are the subject of a story found on page 3.  
• The recent approval of changes to Edgewood's subdivision ordinance is covered on page 9. 
• A new feature called "Community News Exchange" includes several land use stories on page 12:

~A Lincoln County development moratorium based on water concerns;
~Solar power plant construction begins in Luna County;
~A NM Supreme Court ruling in a Pecos River water rights transfer case.

Change of date for the next P&Z meeting

 I received this notice from the Town Clerk this afternoon:

The Planning & Zoning meeting has been rescheduled to June 25th due to lack of a quorum.

Summary of P&Z May 28, 2013 regular meeting:

The Commission approved the minutes from the April 16, 2013 meeting before discussing procedural matters with the town's legal counsel, Mr. Bob White, regarding documentation of ownership interest when a real estate contract is presented to the town in lieu of a warranty deed as part of a land use application.

P&Z meeting rescheduled:

The meeting cancelled earlier this week has been rescheduled for Tuesday May 28, 2013.  Regular Commission meetings are usually held in the Edgewood Community Center and begin at 6:00 PM. 

Commission Minutes for 2010:

I have delayed uploading Commission minutes for 2010 because I don't have the complete set of approved versions.  I've uploaded five draft versions of minutes for various dates, and readers should beware that the final version approved by the Commission might be different in some respects; the file names reflect that fact. If I am able to locate the approved minutes I will post the substitutes.
