Meeting Cancellation:

The P&Z Commission meeting scheduled for October 1, 2013 has been cancelled due to lack of a quorum.

I received the following information about an event sponsored by the Democratic Party of Santa Fe County which is open to the public:

Forum on Monday September 30, 6:30- 8 PM for all (regardless of Party affiliation) those who apply for the appointment from Santa Fe County for the House District 50 seat.  
 

Applicants listed on the program are: Pam Cordova, Matt McQueen, Cynthia Lukas, Richard Rogers, Bill Peterson and Ann Jenkins. 

This will be held at the Performance Space La Tienda at Eldorado 7 Caliente Rd Santa Fe, NM 87508.

Campbell Ranch Page Update:

I've added a link to this exhibit on the Campbell Ranch Master Plan page which I believe was distributed at a town meeting sometime in 2001. The map shows the town boundaries current at that time in yellow with proposed annexations of Campbell Ranch and other lands in turquoise. This document was scanned from a paper version given to me by a former neighbor.  I discovered it filed among other town meeting handouts, but did not find any indication of the date on which this particular document obtained.  However, my guess is that based on papers filed before and after the document it was probably obtained in September or October of 2001.

Note that the areas shown in turquoise are proposed annexations.  The final list of properties annexed on December 3, 2001 may have varied in some respects from this proposal.  The only time indication on the document is Sept. 2001, and there is no indication of who prepared it.  The legend is somewhat misleading as it shows proposed annexations other than Campbell in lilac and Campbell Ranch lands in green while the map itself shows all the proposed annexations in turquoise. 

Public Hearing Announced

The Cashatt subdivision which was withdrawn after 11 months of confusion will be returning to P&Z.  There is no indication in the public notice if the matter will be heard as a major or minor subdivision:

The Town of Edgewood Planning & Zoning Commission will Consider the following During a PUBLIC HEARING on Tuesday October 15, 2013 starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Edgewood Community Center, 27 E. Frontage Road:

Request for a preliminary/final plat for Tract 6 Lands of Padilla 245 Entranosa Road, creating 2 lots from 34.7 acres, zoned R-1. Located at 245 Entranosa Road.

During the PUBLIC HEARING, citizens will be given the opportunity to comment on the above items.  The commission will also accept written comments if received before the hearing, written comments may be sent to the Town of Edgewood, P.O. Old post updated:

In response to a question I received about a post, originally published in May, I've added some material and updated links.  The original purpose was twofold.  The first was to describe the process and rationale behind the subdivision pre-application review by the planning commission.  The second was to demonstrate the fact that even though there was no minor subdivision explicitly called out in the subdivision ordinance as amended on December 7, 2011 the language did allow for a streamlined process.  

With the adoption of an explicit minor subdivision process on June 5, 2013, the latter purpose is no longer relevant.  However, the Council overlooked some weaknesses in the new minor subdivision clause which will need to be addressed at some point.

Agenda for the joint meeting:

The agenda for the September 24 joint meeting of the Edgewood Town Council and Planning Commission has been published. I've placed a copy on Drive which was scanned along with the accompanying notice of quorum. 

P&Z meeting has been cancelled.

Tonight's meeting has been cancelled.  The notice of cancellation has been posted at several physical locations, but it does not appear on the town's website at this time.  The next scheduled meeting is for Tuesday September 24, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Edgewood Community Center.  This will be a joint meeting of the council and commission for the purposes of conducting a training session.

Change of Date for the Joint Meeting of the Council and the Commission:

Questions about Administrative Adjudicatory Deliberations (AAD):

Even with use of a loose interpretation of the concepts of transparency and responsive government, it remains difficult to reconcile Edgewood Mayor Brad Hill's call for use of the AAD with his past statements on open government and the use of closed sessions. Mayor Hill has described advice given to the Commission by a representative of the New Mexico Municipal League (NMML) in terms which appear to be inconsistent with advice given during previous training sessions sponsored by that organization. Furthermore, the Mayor's current position on the use of closed deliberations is not consistent with his own history on this matter. Therefore, I believe it is reasonable to ask if this represents new thinking on the part of the NMML and the Town of Edgewood.

ToE Resolution 2012-1: Planning Roadway System Priorities for Improvement

I've added a copy of the resolution to the old Roads folder on Drive which is now called Roads & Trails. Unfortunately, the planning commission stopped work on this resolution sometime after August 6, 2012 upon completion of its Road Paving Priority Report. None of the work on the other tasks set out in the resolution has progressed beyond brief outlines.

Second Public Meeting for Section 16

I received the following email announcing the next meeting and have put a copy of the media advisory on Drive. 

The second in a series of public meetings will be held to continue the planning process for the master plan for the Edgewood Town Center located on state trust land. 

The meeting for the Town Center, which is more commonly known as Section 16, will be on Saturday, September 21.
